Welcome

In the beginning...

Krewe Rugby started in 1991 after breaking away from another local rugby club, Tampa RFC. With a goal of starting a locally respected team, Krewe aimed at saving a strongly bonded group of rugby players. Starting with 17 players, the team was told time after time they would fail by other local clubs. Playing their games in St. Petersburg, Krewe traced many challenges both on and off the field. They played Tampa RFC, their former team, a few times and never lost. Through these tough times, Krewe endured practices with only 4 players and other challenges presented to this relatively new team. Krewe always found enough guvs to play their games no matter what.

In the fall of 2012 the Krewe moved their home field to Cuscaden Park located in the historic Ybor area of Tampa Bay. Cuscaden Park has a rich history in sports from baseball greats to boxing and now Rugby.

Men's Team(s)

Krewe fields two competitive sides and often hosts a social side, too. We generally carry a CIPP roster of close to a hundred members with players ranging in age from 18 - 40+ (Roge pre-dates modern record keeping). We are a diverse group with a strong international presence and regularly host foreign players. It is an amateur club in the sense that our members have day jobs as stock brokers, computer engineers, teachers, technical recruiters, marketers, entrepreneurs, accountants, doctors, and lawyers, etc.... But when we step on the pitch we are there for business. The success generated by hard work makes what we do fun.

Introduction

We sincerely appreciate your interest in joining the Krewe family and look forward to seeing you on the pitch, but first you'll need to take care of some house keeping items in order to ensure you have the proper supplemental insurance in order to play -- the whole no pads thing isn't a joke.

CIPP Registration and Fees

For liability reasons, and for your benefit, Krewe Rugby will not allow anyone to participate in practice or in any USA Rugby sanctioned event until they are CIPPed. Being CIPPed means that you are actively registered with USA Rugby and, by extension, are covered by their supplemental insurance policy in the event you are injured.

The current cost of CIPP registration is $79.50. To Register, Click Here and follow the online instructions. If you have any issues, or questions, please reach out to our VP, Billy Neilson.

Club Dues

From game fields to post-match socials, the unfortunately reality is everything costs money. And, while fundraising helps to offset of cost of fielding multiple nationally competitive men's and youth's rugby sides, our ability to function as a club is vitally dependent on each member "doing their part".

The current dues assessment for active players is $200 per season, which will be prorated for new players.

Let us know how we can contact you.
