Tampa Lowery Park Zoo volunteer day! While some Krewe players may have troubles keeping their own formal habitation cleanly they do strive in efforts to keep the residence of our fellow animals clean and livable. It’s just a couple months away and we encourage all players to volunteer.

On the weekend of January 9-11, 2015, the Tampa General’s in conjunction with Paralympic Sport Tampa Bay and Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department will be hosting one of the most recognized Wheelchair Rugby tournaments in the world. This year’s tournament features teams from Missouri, Indiana, Michigan, Georgia, Ontario, and the tournament host Tampa Generals, seeded #5 in the nation. This year’s tournament brings together many up and coming teams which should lead to an exciting event. The sport of Quad Rugby (aka Murderball) was invented in Canada and brought to the United States in the mid 80’s. In 1988, the United States Quad Rugby Association (USQRA) was formed to help regulate and promote the sport on both a national and international level. Since its introduction, Quad Rugby has grown immensely around the globe and risen to be one of the most popular Paralympic events. In the U.S., there are now more than 40 organized teams with many others in the developmental stage. Teams compete in tournaments throughout the season (October-April) with hopes of qualifying for the National Championship Tournament in April.
Location: All People’s Life Center located at 6105 E. Sligh Avenue in Tampa.
Time: The Tampa Generals play Friday the 9th at 10am, 1:30pm, and 3pm. Saturday the 10th at 11:am and 2:30pm. Sunday the 11th, final four at 9am, Semi-finals at 10:30am, and Championship at 12pm.

USA Eagles vs New Zealand All Blacks in a Test match in Chicago on Saturday, Nov 1st. This is truly a historic event – just the third time the All Blacks have traveled to the US to play the Eagles and the first time on American soil since 1980 . Rugby in the fastest growing game on the globe. Be sure to watch the game live on NBC @ 3:30 on Nov.1. Also, The team will also be getting together at MacDinton’s in SoHo (one of our sponsors) to watch the game. We encourage all affiliates of the team to come out and support the Eagles as well as promote the sport. Everyone is welcome so come on down, meet the team, learn about the game, watch a historic event, and enjoy some good food and drink.
The 2015 World Cup is scheduled to be the eight Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial rugby union world championship. The tournament will be hosted by England and will take place from September 18th through October 31st. A total of 20 qualified teams will play in the tournament with the first round being the pool stage with four groups of five teams. Each pool is a single round-robin of ten games, in which each team plays one match against each of the other teams in the same pool. A point system based on wins, draws, and tries will determine which top two teams from each pool advance to the quarter-finals and from there winners move on.
